Mulholland After Five

The city is still there, the heat is still hanging around, but somehow none of it feels particularly urgent.

I wanted this painting to capture that feeling — the slightly surreal calm of being above the city, with the pool catching the last of the light and Los Angeles shimmering away in the distance.

The vivid colour is deliberately turned up, giving the piece a contemporary, almost dreamlike quality. It’s for anyone who likes their California dreaming with a little more colour, atmosphere and attitude.

A relaxed piece for a living room, bedroom or anywhere that could use a small reminder to take it easy.
